Following on from my visit to last year's festival, next week I will be returning to the Derby Quad for their annual ID Fest, which this year is looking at the theme of family in film.

Sheffield DocFest 2012 - Preview
Kicking off today in Sheffield is the annual documentary festival better known as DocFest. I'll be covering the festival in person from Friday, but here's a look ahead to what's on in the next couple of days. If you're unfamiliar with what DocFest aims to offer, this snazzy little trailer may or may not explain more.

ID Fest - Sunday
Sunday saw the final day of this year's ID Fest, and with it, my attempts to ruin the whole day for everyone else by coughing uncontrollably in as many cinema screens as possible.

ID Fest 2012 - Preview
The Cannes Film Festival may now be in full swing over on the French riviera, but who needs all that travel? This weekend I'm going to be visiting a festival in an equally glamourous and sun-kissed location; Derby.

Full Metal Jacket
I've just written an article for Hope Lies about Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, as part of a larger cross blog project with many contributors assessing the work of the great director. I recommend you head over there now to check my article out as well as the others, and please leave any comments you have too.

Slacker Cinema's Big Birthday Bonanza!!
Woohoo! It's Slacker Cinema's first birthday! Well, technically it was last Friday, but I decided to give myself a well earned week off. Join me now as I take a look back at my big year of film blogging, pointing out the fun times we've had and the often unforgivable errors I've made...

CHRONOFINCHICAL
Following up my article on David Lynch's Lost Highway as part of hopelies.com's CHRONOLYNCHICAL (a look at all of Lynch's films, in as near chronological order as Adam can get them), I've also contributed to the new strand of articles based on David Fincher's filmography, the awesomely titled CHRONOFINCHICAL. Click on the image above to go to my review of David Fincher's Alien 3, but I recommend people also check out the other contributions to the project, as there's some interesting looks at one of the greatest filmmakers working today.

CHRONOLYNCHICAL
I was recently asked by Adam over at hopelies.com if I wanted to contribute to a series of David Lynch reviews he was putting together. It's all part of a grander scheme called CHRONOLYNCHICAL that aims to document David Lynch's filmography and perhaps re-appraise some of the films that may have been overshadowed by others. Of course I said yes to the offer, so click on the image below to read what my thoughts are about 1997's Lost Highway.
I recommend you check out the other articles too, as there's some interesting looks at other David Lynch oddities. Feel free to leave any comments or feedback at the bottom of the article.
