Ghostbusters in the Machine

A potentially dangerous thing to exist that could theoretically make Dan Aykroyd sit up and think about how seemingly out of date and outmoded things can still have value in the modern age (get the hint Dan, leave Ghostbusters 3 alone), we now have the theme from Ghostbusters rendered by a surprisingly melodic floppy disc drive orchestra.

The work of the catchily named YouTube user MrSolidSnake745 who previously brought us Daft Punk's Derezzed in similar fashion, it's as if the soul of Ray Parker Jr has been sucked up by some sort of audio focused Demon Seed computer, except for the fact that a) that's impossible and b) Ray Parker Jr's not dead yet.

This is a thing and I am officially happy about it.

Ghostbusters - Yes, it's true, this man has more discs.

If, like me, you snapped up a copy of Ghostbusters when it was released on Blu-ray back in 2009, prepare to feel a slight bit of regret that you didn't wait a while.

Instead of releasing the under appreciated (but admittedly nowhere near as good) Ghostbusters 2 on the Blu-ray format, the bigwigs in 'Hollywood' have decided to make us loyal, honest Ghostbusters fans have a second bite of the cherry by releasing the film in a nice new steelbook edition. What's so different about this edition you may ask? Well, from first appearances it would seem to be nothing except the tin (artwork TBC, obviously), as I'm pretty sure that's exactly the same disc that is gracing my now inferior, unloved copy of the film.

So, not only do I now own Ghostbusters on a VHS i'll never need to play, a DVD that I don't need because I bought the re-released version in slime green packaging, the re-released version in slime green packaging that became inferior with the arrival of the Blu-ray, but i'll soon be buying the same film on the same format with the same extras purely because the steelbook packaging looks pretty. Don't judge me.

If 'busting makes you feel good too, the steelbook edition is due for release on November 5th and can be pre-ordered from Amazon now.

Moonrise Kingdom Trailer

My goodness, it seems like an age since Wes Anderson last had a movie out, but this new trailer for Moonrise Kingdom rewards our patience with what looks to be his most fun film in years.

What The F*ck Is Jungle Burger?

Probably the most vulgar piece of animation I've ever seen, this Monday sees the release of the Bill Murray and John Belushi voiced Tarzan spoof, Jungle Burger, on DVD.
Before you watch the following videos I'd also better mention that they are unequivocally, 100% definitely, I'm really not lying...
All clear? Okay then, brace yourself...

Being Bill Murray

Someone had the bright idea to do an exhibition of art based on the films of Wes Anderson, called Bad Dads. It's over in San Francisco so of course I can't go, but there's stuff from a whole bunch of artists that's pretty cool. One guy, Casey Weldon, has imagined what it would be like if Bill Murray played all the major Wes Anderson roles for some bizarre 'Malkovich Malkovich' reason. These are some peculiar portraits that show his talent as an artist, but perhaps also his need for a touch of therapy. Just kidding.

I find these at best disturbing, but I'm pretty sure I'm still going to make one of them my new Facebook profile picture. Maybe the Margot one.
